Welcome to Paws! We're committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data.
TL;DR: Paws stores data locally on your device, doesn't collect personal information, and only connects to Pexels API when you provide your own API key.
What Data We Collect
Paws collects minimal data, all stored locally on your device:
- Saved Images: URLs and metadata of animal pictures you save for later viewing
- Hidden Images: IDs of images you choose to hide (so they don't appear again)
- Pexels API Key: Only if you choose to provide one for accessing animal images
- Extension Settings: Your preference settings stored locally
How We Use Your Data
The data we collect is used exclusively to provide and improve your experience with Paws:
- Display your saved animal pictures for quick access
- Remember which images you've hidden to personalize your feed
- Authenticate with Pexels API (only with your provided API key)
- Maintain your preferences across browser sessions
Third-Party Services
Paws uses the Pexels API to fetch animal images. When you provide your Pexels API key:
- Your key is used only to authenticate with Pexels API
- API requests are made directly from your browser to Pexels servers
- We don't have access to your Pexels account or API key
- Pexels' privacy policy applies to their service

- No location data
- No analytics or tracking
- No data sharing with advertisers
